For a long time, there has been a stoner stereotype that we align with the term “cannabis fashion”. However, making our love for this healing plant a part of our aesthetic doesn’t have to make us feel like a stereotype anymore. Just take one look at the Ladies of Paradise feed and you’ll see that we’ve arrived at a new renaissance for the cannabis aesthetic.
There are some great companies thriving that help us express our love for the plant without tossing on a bunch of cannabis leaves and a rasta hat. We’ve mentioned some of our favorite companies like Goldleaf out of Illinois making their beautiful illustrated prints fit for dispensaries or our living room walls.
Another fan favorite will always be Kind Stems, a company that started humbly making leggings before letting us know her huge secret. Last year, Beacon came out as the owner of Kind Stems and partner of Eric Christiansen, more commonly known as Eric Nugshots. Combining her keen eye for fashion and his beautiful, iconic photography they have created a stoner fashion favorite with their leggings. Keep an eye out this year as they expand into crop tops & bathing suits!
Living a cannabis-focused lifestyle no longer means potato chip munching and lounging on the couch. Sure, every sometimes we may get on those indicas all day, but many are now turning to CBD after rock climbing or sharing an edible with a partner before embarking a new experience together. The health & wellness cannabis movement doesn’t just include workouts. There are experts in cannabis sexuality, beauty like skin & hair care, and of course, tons of cannabis chefs. Being healthy can now include cannabis, and being about this movement is a great way to living a cannabis positive lifestyle.
The last step to applying our love for cannabis to our lifestyle aesthetic is to let people know about it! We can step up on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, & more to share how this plant has changed our lives. We do have to be careful with how we represent ourselves, however, because many accounts get removed due to the federal status of cannabis. Companies include the plant in their ‘illegal drug’ clause and some accounts get wiped out overnight. So stay classy, be nice to competitors, and always post the required warnings.
Another important thing to remember as we share our cannabis experiences is that people have been risking their lives to grow, distribute, and take this plant medicine for decades. Some of these pioneers are still stuck in jail without help, as we enter this industry we must pay homage to these veterans of cannabis and continue advocating for their release & redemption.
These are the best ways to start repping the cannabis plant today. Being a fashionable, healthy, & influential stoner isn’t easy; but the road is fun wherever it ends. Start investing in cannabis-centric or inspired art, get on that CBD meal plan, or even start advocating for the cannabis martyrs serving jail sentences worldwide. Now’s the time to start infusing our aesthetic with the healing plant.
Cara began working in the retail cannabis industry of San Francisco, CA in 2011 and continued in that sector for years. In 2015 she put down her budtender hat and dedicated herself to writing full-time. Her passion for the written word and deep respect for the healing properties of the cannabis plant fuel the passion in her posts.
