Those who helped guide the way in this strange still under-regulated industry know what it’s like to need a hand. Some cannabis CEOs who are living the high life were once facing jail time or persecution for providing medicine to patients. Maybe that’s why so many of the companies who fuel this blossoming industry take time to share their successes with those around them. Some cannabis companies set up foundations, others prefer to reach out directly to their neighborhood. Whatever the mode of reaching people is, these cannabis companies are leading the way in charitable success.
The Raw Foundation
Pretty much anyone that’s rolled a joint has heard of Raw papers. The mission of the Raw Foundation is to improve the lives of as many people as possible with the resources they can spare. The Raw Foundation is self-funded. They do not run on donations in any way. All of the charitable work done by this foundation is funded by Raw Rolling Papers.
In the time since the Raw Foundation was established, they have supplied 200,000 meals to malnourished children, dug quite a few wells in Ethiopia, funded water filtration in response to “typhoid beach” in Congo, and so much more. To read the rest of the great work they’re doing at the Raw Foundation check out their website. For those that want to support the Raw Foundation, simply use Raw products.
Advanced Nutrients is a company that has been advertising their hydroponic line to cannabis gardeners since back when most garden suppliers masqueraded as nutrient lines for tomatoes. Now, Advanced Nutrients and their head honcho Big Mike give back by way of Holiday Heroes. Originally started in Bulgaria, Holiday Heroes is now active in the States. Shortly before Christmas in 2012 Big Mike decided to put his money where it counted and started giving back through this charitable cause. Their latest drive provided backpacks to the homeless community containing hygiene supplies, non-perishable food items, and living necessities. Just this year, Holiday Heroes has fed over 30,000 people in need and they aren’t stopping anytime soon.
Bloom Room Community Outreach
The last two charitable causes we’ve mentioned were large scale, but some cannabis companies choose to focus on their community. San Francisco cannabis dispensary Bloom Room plans multi-faceted community outreach that brings their medical patients in on getting well and giving back. First of all, members are provided with massage, cooking with cannabis workshops, and compassion for low-income patients. They also have a community calendar featuring events like picking up trash at beloved local park Dolores or their local alleyway on Jesse Street in San Francisco City. In return for their help in cleanups, Bloom Room offers their patients a joint or some other form of medicine. Keep posted with charitable offerings from the Bloom Room in their community calendar located on their website.
