Unfortunately, attitudes towards cannabis use can still be very negative. One example of this is the fact that cannabis is still included in most drug tests. Even in legal states, some jobs will still require a screening before employment.

So what do you do if you need to pass one? Here are the dos and don’ts of drug testing.

The Dos

Synthetic Urine: One of the most reliable ways to pass a drug test is to obtain synthetic urine from your local head shop. This product has a high success rate and is used frequently by stoners. However, there are certain labs that can now detect it, so there’s no guarantee. However, it is still one of your best bets.

Eye Drops: Eye drops work because of Benzalkonium chloride, which actually traps the cannabinoids and metabolites in your urine making them less detectable. Some say adding a few drops to your sample will create a false negative. For heavy smokers, this is still a risky way to try to pass, but people have had some success.

Abstaining: By far the most effective method of passing a drug test is to abstain from using cannabis for about a month. Of course, this only works if you have that long and know well in advance that you will be getting tested. So, if you know you’re going to be job hunting, abstinence is the wisest option to ensure you won't let something so silly prevent you from landing that dream job.

The Don’ts

Cranberry Juice: Cranberry juice is a diuretic, meaning it makes you pee a lot, and some people have reported luck diluting their urine enough to pass a drug test. This isn’t a sure-fire method and we do not recommend it.

Bleach: There’s some anecdotal evidence of people passing a drug test by adding bleach to their sample. Not only is this a risky way to try for a negative result, the smell is also very noticeable, and the chances of getting away with it are slim. Not so sure if we even need to include this, but just in case—nobody should ever attempt to drink any amount of bleach to pass either. All it’ll do is make you very sick or even kill you.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Vinegar is known to help flush out your system, but there’s no evidence it will reduce the presence of cannabinoids and metabolites enough in your urine for you to pass. Your best case would be to end up with an inconclusive result, and a re-test would need to be completed.
