Canadian adults are just seven days away from welcoming what could be a $10 billion retail cannabis market. According to StatsCan's online survey results, legal retailers are going to have to sell a lot of weed to hit this mark. Projections from this online survey suggest that the average price per gram for ganja in Canada is merely $7.
These statistics come from the responses of over 15,000 Canadians who participated in the online survey earlier this year. According to this survey, the highest price being paid for ganja in Canada was in the Northwest Territories coming in at almost $12 a gram. Canadians in Quebec seem to be toking for much less paying an average of only $5.89 per gram.
The Canadian government, however, released a report estimating that cannabis consumers are paying an average of $10 a gram and that this would be the target price for the legal market that is only 7 days away.
While we can speculate all day long about how much Canadians are going to be paying per gram, we are likely not to have any ideal until the market has a chance to stabilize itself in the months and years to come.
The stabilization of the legal retail cannabis market may come quicker though. The Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale believes that the legal market is the "market that Canadians will choose rather than dealing with a corner drug dealer who's going to sell them poison product that could kill them."
If this is the case, in which it very likely could be, the black market should be minimized quickly once legal retail cannabis becomes available to adult cannabis consumers in the country in just 7 days.
With this in mind, it could only be 7 days before $7 is all Canadians will pay per gram or it could be several months. Only time will tell. One thing is for sure though, and that is that Canadians have a lot to celebrate as we enter the final countdown.
The final countdown being the last week in which Canadian adults will have to worry about being persecuted for choosing a natural plant over dangerous, and sometimes deadly medicinal and recreational choices.Posted: Wednesday, October 10th, 10:00am 2 months ago

James believes that cannabis should be an essential part of everyone's life but, this doesn't mean that everyone has to get stoned to do this. Only through education and sharing the stories of the community can we help to tear down the negative walls of stigmas and stereotypes that cannabis has received or the last 80 years.
