A study was published in the Journal of Affective Disorders recently which looked more deeply into applicable cannabis medicine for those diagnosed with depression and anxiety. In the paper, published in early April of this year, researchers from Washington State University took a calculated look at patient cannabis-use data collected by the app Strainprint. With this work, they came to the conclusion that just one puff a day can be valuable to patients suffering from depression.
The research team took a deep look at 12,000 app sessions of those self-treating depression, anxiety, and stress with cannabis throughout the United States. About 9% of Americans from all walks of life suffer from depression, with stress and anxiety almost always playing a role. What they found after analyzing the Strainprint data was that most patients using cannabis for depression needed just one puff of a 1:1 CBD to THC to treat their day-to-day issues. Similarly, around 10 puffs of a high THC & CBD strain was the ideal dose when treating stress.
These findings are helpful in a community where many doctors aren’t currently taught how to help a patient through their cannabis treatment.
