The stoner stereotype is so prevalent and persistent that it continues to stigmatize those for whom cannabis is part of their healthy lifestyle. Even (and maybe especially) parents.

However, when a New York agency asked cannabis-consuming parents how they spend their family time, the results offered something heartwarming.

According to this survey, parents (ranging from 21 to 55 years old) with children under 18 report having enhanced family time experiences with their children when they microdose with cannabis. The respondents feel that incorporating marijuana into a passive family experience, such as watching TV (79% report regularly doing this), creates a more pleasant environment.

And that's not only because microdosing parents find watching kids TV shows more enjoyable.

For one thing, they spend more time watching kids TV shows; they’re more engaged when discussing their kids TV shows; and they're more likely to report making better bonds with their children over the TV programs they view together.

Cannabis also seems to make parents more likely to bond over the shows they watch. Eighty percent say they’re more likely to seek out shows from their childhood to view with their kids when they’ve been consuming cannabis. Information like this could help a company like Netflix decide which retro shows to release or remake for family time in states and countries with legal marijuana.

As for the stoner stereotype, these badass parents don't even seem to acknowledge it. Instead, 9 of 10 parents self-identified as present, mindful, active, relaxed and professional.
