One Orlando couple recently faced that question when their 27-gallon plastic storage bin that they ordered arrived packed with a bonus inside containing 65 lbs of Mary Jane. The woman and her fiancé, remaining unidentified despite the press coverage, say they were first surprised by the weight of their order—what should have been an empty storage bin. They say it was the weight of the shipment that prompted them to call the police. “When the first officer got here she was in disbelief,” the woman told WFTV News.
The couple is taking extra precautions about keeping their identity hidden for fear that the original sender will discover their names and location. “We were still pretty fearful our home would be broken into, and we didn’t sleep there for a few days,” said the woman, explaining the couple’s aloofness toward the public.
Amazon, besides assisting investigators with their investigation into the Massachusetts senders, also sent a $150 gift certificate to the couple for their troubles. “Our customer service team worked directly with the customer to address concerns and will work with law enforcement to investigate the case, as needed,” the company said in a statement.
